The Faculty of Professional Studies (FPS) offers a great variety of programmes covering education, art and culture and nursing and health.

Education, Art and Culture

FPS offers six different teacher education programmes through a wide range of courses at all levels from pre-school to the upper secondary school. You can follow integrated programmes for pre-school teachers, teachers of primary and lower secondary school, and specialised programmes for teachers of upper secondary school within Sport, Music, Dance and Drama.

We offer students a comprehensive programme combining theory and hands-on practice at day-care centres and in schools. During periods of practical training, students are introduced not only to the practical aspects of teaching, but also to Norwegian education theory and school management.

We also offer a great variety of specialised courses, such as outdoor learning activities, physical training, dance, drama, music, painting, pottery, textile work as well as Norwegian, English, Spanish and Lulesami language education as a part of our regular programmes.

Nursing and health

FPS offers Bachelor in nursing in practical and modern study facilities. FPS also has many years' experience with decentralised education and distance learning aided by modern information technology. The high quality of our nursing programmes is safeguarded by National Guidelines and Department Board approval.

FPS has limited offers of courses taught in the English language. FPS organizes English syllabi and English summaries for students who want to study courses not taught in the English language.

Centre for Practical Knowledge
The Centre of Practical Knowledge was established to promote and develop continued professional development. The centre offers a Masters degree in Practical Knowledge (120 ECTS) and a PhD degree in Professional Studies, and in addition focuses its activity on research within this field.
